Understanding and Intervention in Patients with Diabetes Burnout
Lee Jee-Hyun

Abstract
Diabetes can be a difficult and burdensome disease, and feelings of distress are common among patients. The constant stress and frustration of diabetes management can lead to ¡°diabetes burnout¡±. Many patients may feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or defeated by diabetes, and may become preoccupied or worried by the fear of complications. As a result, patients may feel unmotivated to adhere to the regimen required for diabetes care. Chronically elevated blood glucose levels may result if appropriate diabetes self-management cannot be achieved or maintained. Therefore, proper identification and treatment of diabetes burnout is a very important aspect of diabetes management.
